Robert on German Radio

7 June 2015, 9pm (GMT) - Robert's new CD will be featured on MDR Figaro's radio programme Orgelmagazin.

Presenter Claus Fischer and producer Horst Brauner will be discussing the Franz Liszt Memorial Organ in Weimar, the repertoire featured on the CD and Robert's collaboration with composer Bertie Baigent.

CD Release

Today Robert's first solo CD, a portrait of the Franz Liszt Memorial Organ at the Herz-Jesu-Kirche in Weimar, was released by the classical CD label JUBAL.

Live Recordings from Germany

The first live recording from Robert's summer tour has been uploaded to YouTube: Bach's Prelude in C minor played on the 1735 Silbermann organ of the St.-Petri-Kirche, Freiberg (Saxony).

Additional recordings (including works by Mendelssohn, Sweelinck, Boyce, Byrd and Gowers) will be added to the YouTube channel over the next few weeks.

Appointment

Robert has been appointed Assistant Organist of St. Paul's Church Bloor Street, Toronto (Canada), for the duration of the academic year 2014/2015.

St. Paul's, the largest Anglican church in Toronto, boasts strong musical tradition and a 111-stop Casavant Frères organ. Previous incumbents have included composer Healey Willan (1880-1968), whose famous Introduction, Passacaglia and Fugue in E flat minor (1916) was written with the organ of St. Paul's in mind.

Germany Tour 2014

Robert will be undertaking an extensive solo recital tour of Germany starting this week. He will be playing a recital at the Auenkirche in Berlin to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Royal College of Organists followed by six additional recitals in Brandenburg, Saxony and Thuringia, including an evening recital on the famous 1735 Silbermann organ of the St.-Petri-Kirche in Freiberg.

The programmes will feature works by Bach, Reger, Howells, Elgar, Gowers and Pärt as well as the first performance of Bright spark, shot from a brighter place, a newly commissioned piece written by Bertie Baigent, a former member of Somerville Choir. This summer Robert will be undertaking his first US tour. The itinerary includes five services/concerts with the Choir of Somerville College, Oxford, in Washington DC, Delaware and Massachusetts as well as a full-length solo recital at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross (Boston):

A live recording of the fourth movement of Vierne's Organ Symphony No. 3 in F-sharp minor (op. 28) has just been uploaded to YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGMcukPiDTQ.

The video was recorded at Merton College Chapel last week and features the Merton's new Dobson organ.
