![]() On Saturday Robert will be contributing two pieces to a special recital in celebration of the 120th anniversary of the Friedrich Goll organ at the Linsebühlkirche in St. Gallen (Switzerland). The concert will also feature organists Imelda Natter, Claude Diallo and Franz Pfab. Robert will be playing Max Reger's Variations and Fugue on 'Heil dir im Siegerkranz'/'God Save the King' as well as Hamburger Totentanz (from Trois Préludes Hambourgeois) by Swiss composer Guy Bovet. A review of Robert's organ recital at the St.-Georgen-Kirche in Schwarzenberg (Germany) and a selection of photos can be found on the church website. From 26th May until 30th June 2016 Robert will be playing the organ for all 41 performances of the York Mystery Plays 2016 at York Minster (with additional matinee performances on Wednesdays and Saturdays).
The incidental music for this production was written by Dr Richard Shephard MBE. ![]() On Sunday 20th March Robert will be accompanying a performance of John Stainer's oratorio The Crucifixion at the Central Methodist Church, York. The choir will be conducted by John Bradbury and the two solo parts will be sung by James Brown (tenor) and Mark Wharfedale (bass). Singers who are interested in joining the choir are requested to bring a copy of the Novello score if possible. Please send an email to this address specifying the part you will be singing by 10th March 2016. The performance starts at 6:30pm, with a rehearsal at 2:30pm. On 2nd November 2015 at 6pm Robert will be providing the organ accompaniment for a liturgical performance of Fauré's Requiem at the York Oratory.
The performance will feature the choral scholars of St. Wilfrid's and St. Helen's, conducted by John Ridgeway-Wood. Robert will be undertaking an extensive solo recital tour of Germany starting this week. He will be playing a recital at the Auenkirche in Berlin to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Royal College of Organists followed by six additional recitals in Brandenburg, Saxony and Thuringia, including an evening recital on the famous 1735 Silbermann organ of the St.-Petri-Kirche in Freiberg.
The programmes will feature works by Bach, Reger, Howells, Elgar, Gowers and Pärt as well as the first performance of Bright spark, shot from a brighter place, a newly commissioned piece written by Bertie Baigent, a former member of Somerville Choir. The programme includes Fauré's Requiem, a selection of seasonal anthems by Mendelssohn, Wood and Rutter as well as Messiaen's Joie et clarté. 9 November 2013, 7:30pm - Robert will be playing the organ and the piano for the 'Writing for Voices' concert at the University Church as part of the Britten in Oxford festival. He will be accompanying the Choir of Somerville College in works by Eric Whitacre and Daniel Saleeb.
Robert will also be playing the organ for the concert's finale, a celebratory performance of Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb featuring six choirs (including Schola Cantorum of Oxford) conducted by Nicholas Cleobury. The concert will be recorded by BBC Radio 3. |
